I've been training in wrestling shoes for 15 years now and my last three pairs have been Adidas so I was pretty surprised when I got these babies out of the box and tried them on. First I figured out the laceguard, which is pretty minimal, not sure exactly where they think I want my laces such that they don't get snagged when someone's pulling on your feet.Then I decided to take a few laps around my living room. Right away I noticed the padding in the heel, ""Huh?"" I thought, ""Feels springy, I guess when you spend enough on a shoe they add extra features like a springy heel."" It kind of feels like you're stepping on a little rubber bouncing ball. Ultimately I found the effect destabilizing. I guess it's not so bad on the mat where your feet sink, but it still feels weird.Then the deal breaker happened, while doing a few squats and lunges I noticed the toe pinching across the outside arch of my foot. I figured it would go away after some breaking in, but such was not the case. They're just designed in such a way that they bind uncomfortably when the toe is flexed.I can't speak to the build quality or endurance of the materials because I haven't had them long. I've been very pleased with my previous Adidas wrestling shoes though.Maybe these shoes fit someone else great, but I'm going to return mine.
i don't really know why they are awesome shoes. they just are. actually, i think it's the classic design.i don't know about you, but to me a lot of today's shoes looks like someone had seizure at the stitch shop--too many lines, too many colors, too busy! it gives me a headache just looking at them. someone stop the madness!in contrast, the adidas superstar is the epitome of a clean, classic shoe: a white shoe with three blue/black lines. that's it. and kids, that's ALL you need.the fact that they are durable, have excellent arch support, and will increase your cred exponentially only adds to the allure.if i had 50 clams to spend on a pair of shoes, i'd gladly get another pair of superstars, 'cos that's just what they are.
