I agree with the Mr. Shipman's review.These Adidas AX1 are more like a running shoe with lug sole.They have a firm heel not really cushioned like an ""air"" or ""gel"" shoe.I would say it is like a hiking shoe with the flexibility of an athletic shoe.Not necessarily what you would want for an all day hike with a pack but, tons of traction for light day hike or excursion. This might be the perfect shoe for an ultra-light hiker who normally hikes in running shoes.Just got mine so I can't comment on durability yet.They are sized small so you should order at least a 1/2 size up. I wear an 11 to 11 1/2 normally and needed a 12 in these.They are size similarly to Adidas Kanadia's which I see in stores locally.
